Background
“Die sogenannte Natur.” from the series “Nischen” is a work by Tine Melzer from 2023. It is made of enamelled metal and is mounted on Breitenrainstrasse, number 26 in Bern. The series is made of 90 enamelled panels with texts, placed across Bern's public space. In the artist's view, niches are discovered by chance rather than actively looked for. The Biodiversity Year aims at keeping habitats safe and renewing them, so that nature's variety can thrive there.
