Background

“Untitled” consists of reproductions of four paintings and is placed in the passage of the Zytglogge tower in Bern. The creator is unknown and the year of origin is not recorded; the work is dated to between 1900 and 1979. The tower grew out of a defence tower that closed off the western end of Bern's main street between 1218 and 1220. Decrees and official notices are posted in the passage, and since the 18th century official length standards have been mounted there. The clock tower also houses one of the oldest tower clocks in Switzerland. Which four paintings are reproduced here has not been documented so far.
