Background

“Roll'n'Flow” by Alain Jenzer (2024) works with an existing fence protected as a historic monument, at the Quartierplatz Kistlerweg by the Volksschule Elfenau in Bern. The school bears the name Elfenau, the same as the park and estate on the banks of the Aare. From a garden-history point of view, the park ranks among Switzerland's most important English-style landscape gardens, laid out in the early 19th century. The city has owned the Elfenau since 1918. The site is listed in the Swiss inventory of cultural property as nationally significant.
