Background

“Pausenzeichen” by Mercurius Weisenstein and Urs Gehbauer (2001) is a programmable break gong at the Schulhaus Bitzius, Bitziusstrasse 15, in Bern. The school building dates from 1909, and the building record names Arnold Blaser of the city's building department as architect. It is a three-storey angular block standing on the highest point of the Schönberghöhe. A cantonal government decision of 1995 sets out its protection, and the building is classed as worth preserving.
