Leftover kitchen: 44 recipes from what you have
Tap what is in your fridge and get recipes that turn exactly that into a meal: 44 leftover recipes from a chef against food waste, part of the Bärn Kit for Bern.
The leftover kitchen helps you turn what is in your fridge into a meal instead of throwing it away. Under “What is in the fridge?” you tap the ingredients you have, for example stale bread, cooked rice, cooked potatoes, brown bananas or hard cheese ends.
First the recipes appear for which you have everything, then those missing exactly one ingredient; the missing ingredient is shown right next to them. Recipes that use more of your chosen ingredients move further up. With “clear all” you start again. Without a selection you can simply browse all the recipes.
Each recipe shows the ingredients you need and the optional extras that fit, the time in minutes, short instructions and a chef’s tip. Among them are, for example, Swiss French toast, panzanella, fried rice, Rösti from cooked potatoes, banana bread and minestrone. The chef describes the cheese tart as the Bern recipe for using up cheese.
The recipes come from a chef’s professional practice, with quantities for 2 to 4 people. Important with leftovers: keep them chilled and reheat them thoroughly; do not eat rice, meat or fish after 1 to 2 days. The page is free, part of Bärn Kit for Bern, and works without tracking.
