Background
“Knabe mit Fisch” is a stone sculpture by Etienne Didier Alphonse Perincioli from 1927 in the park of the Stadtgärtnerei Elfenau, beside the large greenhouse on Elfenauweg in Bern. Perincioli, born in 1881 in Doccio in Piedmont, worked as a sculptor and settled in Bern in 1908. The Stadtgärtnerei, the city gardening department, was set up on the Elfenau estate in 1928 and 1929, after the estate had passed to the city in 1918. The Elfenau is an English-style landscape park laid out in the early 19th century.
