“Knaben am Fluss” is a 1922 mural in the music room (Singsaal) of the Volksschule Munzinger, Munzingerstrasse 11, in Bern, by Victor Surbek. Surbek, born in Zäziwil in 1885 and died in Bern in 1975, was a Swiss painter, watercolourist, draughtsman, printmaker and illustrator. In 1928 he painted five murals on the Odyssey in the Gymnasium Kirchenfeld in Bern. Another public work is “Beginn der Zeit” (“The Beginning of Time”, 1930) on the west facade of the Zytglogge tower.
