Background

The untitled work on the facade of the Munzinger primary school in Bern is dated around 1922. Its material is recorded as sandstone, but this entry is uncertain. Karl Hänny (1879–1972) was born in Twann and worked as a sculptor, painter, medallist and graphic artist. His architectural sculptures are mostly made of artificial stone and are found mainly in the Bern area. In 1918 he also made sculptures for the Munzinger school.
