Background

The untitled fresco by Emil Cardinaux, from 1911 to 1912, is on the staircase ceiling and above the entrance door of the Breitfeld school at Standstrasse 61 in Bern. Cardinaux (1877–1936), born in Bern, worked as a painter and created more than 130 posters. In the entrance hall above the door he painted a children's dream motif, and in the main staircase he showed the four seasons. His posters also drew attention internationally.
