Bärner Bier Rundi 2026: about 20 breweries in one evening
In 1990 Switzerland had 32 breweries, today over 1,000. About 20 from Bern and the region will be at BERNEXPO on 13 and 14 November.

When and where is the Bärner Bier Rundi 2026?
On Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November 2026, from 5 pm to 11:30 pm each day. It takes place on the BERNEXPO grounds at Wankdorf, Mingerstrasse 6. According to the floor plan, the stands are in halls 2.1 and 3.1. The organiser is BERNEXPO AG.
How much is a ticket?
A ticket costs CHF 15, and a beer glass is included. Groups of five or more pay CHF 12 per person. Tickets are sold at baernerbierrundi.ch. Some event calendars mention a two-day pass, but we could not find one on the official site.
Important: entry is from age 18 only. Ages are checked at the door, so bring ID.
What can you expect?
About 20 breweries from Bern and the neighbouring cantons will be pouring. The exhibitor list includes Brauerei Felsenau, Altes Tramdepot, Rugenbräu, Brauerei Thun, Braukunst Bern, Frutigbier, Simmentaler Braumanufaktur and Öufi Brauerei. The list may still change before the event.
You can compare amber, IPA or bock and talk directly to the people who brew it. The “5PM DJ-Crew” plays hits from the 80s and 90s. Food is served in a food corner in hall 3.1 and outside.
New this year: a pub quiz with Meliano's on Friday from 5:30 to 7 pm, for teams of up to four. Sign up by 10 November.
Which beer will win?
Each brewery nominates one beer. Guests vote on site with a QR code, and the winner is announced on Saturday. According to the organiser, the winning brewery gets a free stand at BEA 2027. In 2025, the organiser says, Braukunst Bern won with its “Lager”.
Why there are so many small breweries today
From 1935, Swiss breweries agreed on a lot together: prices, advertising and who could deliver where. Most pubs served only one brand of beer. People called it the beer cartel. In 1990 there were just 32 breweries in the whole country.
The cartel ran out at the end of 1991, after big breweries had left it. First came a wave of takeovers. From around 2000, more and more small breweries opened. In January 2026 the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security counted 1,072 registered breweries. Most of them are very small.
Bern has its own beer history too. In Wabern, at the foot of the Gurten, Johann Juker founded the Gurten brewery in 1864. Gurten beer has not been brewed there since the 1990s, but the brick building with “Gurten Bier” on it is still standing. Brauerei Felsenau on the Aare, on the other hand, has been brewing since 1881 and is at the Bier Rundi.
Practical tips
Getting there: From Bern station, take tram 9 to “Wankdorf Center”. Or take the S-Bahn (S1, S2, S3, S4, S44) to “Bern Wankdorf”, then tram 9 or about a 10-minute walk. There are few parking spaces.
Getting home: Leave the car at home. The organisers themselves say “Don't drink and drive!”. On Friday and Saturday nights the Moonliner night bus runs, and Libero passes and the GA are valid. Check your way home in the app before you go.
Good to know: Cloakroom in hall 2.1, CHF 2 per item. Cash machine at entrance 2.1. No dogs, except guide and assistance dogs. Halls and toilets are wheelchair accessible (toilets with Eurokey).
Take it slow: Drink water in between and eat something. The map Drinking fountains in Bern shows where to find free drinking water.
With children? The Bier Rundi is 18+. For families, the Rendez-vous Bundesplatz runs this month too: a light show on the Federal Palace, daily at 7, 8 and 9 pm, free, until 21 November.
