Christmas markets in Bern 2026: dates and opening hours
From 19 November 2026 the first Christmas markets open in Bern. Here they all are, with place, dates and opening hours as far as they are known.

The markets at a glance
- Sternenmarkt: 19 November to 27 December 2026, on the Europapromenade next to the Federal Palace (Kleine Schanze).
- Christmas market on Waisenhausplatz: 27 November to 24 December 2026.
- Christmas market on Münsterplatz: 28 November to 24 December 2026.
- Christmas tree market: 12 to 24 December 2026, in several places.
Christmas market on Münsterplatz
From Saturday 28 November to Thursday 24 December 2026. Open Monday to Thursday 11 am to 6.30 pm, Friday 11 am to 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 6 pm. On 24 December 10 am to 4 pm. On some days the craft market (Handwerkermärit) on the Münsterplattform is on as well.
Sternenmarkt
It opens on Thursday 19 November 2026 at 4 pm and runs until 27 December. Monday to Saturday 11 am to 10 pm, Sunday 11 am to 8 pm. On 24 December until 4 pm, closed on 25 December. Payment by card or Twint only, no cash. There is no parking nearby, and the organisers ask visitors to come by public transport.
Christmas market on Waisenhausplatz
From 27 November to 24 December 2026. The 2026 opening hours were not yet known when this was written; the city says “Öffnungszeiten folgen” (opening hours to follow). Afterwards Waisenhausplatz carries on with the Altjahresmarkt (old year's market) from 28 to 31 December 2026 and the Neujahresmarkt (New Year market) from 4 to 9 January 2027.
Good to know
In the market calendar all markets are listed under “Once a year”, together with the Zibelemärit on 23 November. There is drinking water at the Old Town fountains; the map Drinking fountains in Bern shows the nearest one.
