Gratis Hilfe in Bern

What this app does

Free help in Bern: letters, tax, debt, rent

A letter from an office, tax return, debt, rent, residence: where to get free help in Bern, when and in which language. With sources, no tracking.

“Free help” shows where you can get free support in Bern when a letter from an office arrives, your tax return is due, debts are piling up or it is about rent or residence. First you choose a topic: understand a letter or form, tax return, debt and bills, rent and notice, residence and permit, or little money and general advice.

Then you see a short note on what matters first and the right places with address, hours, cost, languages and a button to call. Examples are the writing service at the Generationenhaus, the Support Café at DOCK8, isa migration advice centre, the Berner Schuldenberatung debt counselling service, the conciliation authority Bern-Mittelland and the City of Bern social service. Some places help completely free, at others the first session is free; many need no appointment.

Each topic has a short checklist to tick off, for example finding the deadline on the letter and writing it down, putting all bills, reminders and debt-collection letters in one envelope, or bringing the lease and the letter. With “Back” and “Start again” you can pick another topic at any time.

The information comes from the City of Bern’s overviews and the offices’ own pages; each place shows its source and the date it was checked. No account, no tracking, your choices stay on the device.
