Summer and winter

In summer the map shows shady parks, water play areas, fountains and swimming pools, for example the Marzili Freibad, the Lorraine Freibad and the Hallenbad Gäbelbach. In winter it shows warm rooms, often with coffee or tea. They are open to everyone, including anyone who is freezing outside and has nowhere to go. They include the Offene Kirche Heiliggeist and Punkt 6, which is only open from November to April.

Where does the data come from?

Parks, pools and playgrounds with water come from the City of Bern's open geodata (opendata.swiss), fountains and other water play areas from OpenStreetMap (ODbL). The warm rooms come from the city's leaflet “Uf dr Gass” (PINTO) and from sleeper.ch. For warm rooms you see the address, opening hours, whether the room is open now, and a phone number.

Good to know

Distances are as the crow flies. In winter the app first searches among the rooms that are open right now. Not every fountain has drinking water. In the heat: drink plenty and stay in the shade at midday.
