How it works

  1. Go through the nine points in order and tick off what is done.
  2. Choose your move-in date and tap “Download calendar” (Kalender herunterladen).
  3. For each point, open the link to the official source.
Neu in Bern on a phone.

What is on the list

Nine points in the order they come up: registering with the city, health insurance, Serafe, rubbish, school and kindergarten, German, the form showing the initial rent, neighbours and the Aare. You must register within 14 days of moving in, via eUmzugCH or at the residents' services (Einwohnerdienste) at Predigergasse 5. You take out basic health insurance no later than three months after arriving. Household rubbish only goes in the city's official fee bag (Gebührensack).

Deadlines in your calendar

A bar shows your progress. The ticks stay only in your browser. With “Download calendar” you get deadlines and reminders as a calendar file on your phone. The file is created on your device, nothing is sent.

Where does the information come from?

From official city, cantonal and federal websites, such as bern.ch, the FOPH (BAG) and serafe.ch, checked on 25. 9. 2026. Deadlines and amounts can change, in which case the linked source applies. The page is not legal advice.
