Background

The relief “Kreuzigung Christi / Grablegung Christi / Auferstehung Christi / Christus mit Engeln” by Gustave Piguet (1955) is made of Bulle hard sandstone and is in the portico of the funeral hall at the Bremgartenfriedhof, Murtenstrasse 51, Bern. The funeral hall was built in 1954 together with the entrance area and the administration building. The cemetery itself opened in 1864 as a replacement for the Monbijou cemetery. So far, no reliable biographical sources on the sculptor have been documented. Further details on the making of the relief are not yet available.
