Background

The Aubusson-style tapestry “Lebensbaum und Lebensstrom” by Carl Bieri was made between 1954 and 1956 and is in the funeral hall of the Bremgartenfriedhof, Murtenstrasse 51, 3008 Bern. The tapestry is a woven wall hanging. The funeral hall was built in 1954, together with the entrance area and the administration building. The cemetery itself opened in 1864 as a replacement for the Monbijou cemetery. No reliable background on the artist Carl Bieri or the making of the tapestry is documented yet.
