Background

The glass window “Christliche Symbole” (Christian symbols) by Peter Stein and Max von Mühlenen (1956) is in the funeral hall of the Bremgartenfriedhof, Murtenstrasse 51, Bern. Mühlenen, who was born and died in Bern, was a painter and glass painter who learned the craft from Louis Moilliet. The Bremgarten cemetery opened in 1864 in place of the Monbijou cemetery. The funeral hall was built in 1954 together with the entrance area and the administration building. No further sources on Peter Stein or on the design of the window are documented yet.
