Background
“Vogelstimmern, Kindergeschrei, Laubbläser.” from the series “Nischen” is a work by Tine Melzer from 2023. It is made of enamelled metal and is mounted on Optingenstrasse in Bern. In biology, a species' niche is the combination of conditions that lets it persist and breed. Their short statements, often open to more than one reading, catch people off guard during ordinary days. The panels follow seven walks that are connected with the Biodiversity Year.
