Where does the data come from? Open data and OpenStreetMap

Bärn Kit doesn't make up places. Every app names its source. Most points on the maps come from OpenStreetMap, others from the open data of the City of Bern and the federal government.

OpenStreetMap

OpenStreetMap is a free map of the world maintained by volunteers. It is the source of, for example, the fountains in Bern Trinkwasser and in Kühl & warm, the barbecue and fire pits, the book exchange cabinets, the benches and the opening hours in Jetzt offen. The data is licensed under the ODbL. If a place is missing or something is wrong, you can correct it directly in OpenStreetMap.

Open data from the city and the federal government

Parks and pools in Kühl & warm come from the City of Bern's geodata. Dis Jahrgangsbaum uses the tree register of Stadtgrün Bern. The artworks in public space also come from the city's geodata. The Aare values come from the FOEN (BAFU) measuring station Bern Schönau via LINDAS, and the air temperature from MeteoSwiss.

Other sources

The market times in the Märit-Kalender come from bern.ch. The warm rooms come from the city's leaflet “Uf dr Gass” and from sleeper.ch. The locations of the public fridges in Kreislauf Bern come from Madame Frigo, with their permission. Lists such as Gratis Bern name the source and the date it was checked on every line. If anything differs, the source always applies.
