First aid: what to do until the ambulance arrives
Someone collapses, and the phone is already in your hand. Bärn hilft shows you what you can do until the ambulance arrives.

How it works
- Call 144 and say first where you are: street, house number, floor.
- Switch on the loudspeaker, put the phone next to the person and do not hang up. The control centre tells you what to do.
- Tap “Start: press to the beat” (Start: Drücken im Takt) and press at the given pace.

The metronome
After “Start: press to the beat”, the page sets a pace of 110 beats per minute, in “30 presses : 2 breaths” mode or “Presses only”. It shows the time and the number of presses and reminds you to swap after two minutes. Four steps explain what to do: speak to the person, call 144, check breathing, press.
Other emergencies and numbers
There are short guides for unconscious but breathing normally (recovery position), choking, stroke, heart attack and heavy bleeding. Plus the Swiss emergency numbers, such as 117 police, 118 fire brigade, 145 Tox Info Suisse and 1414 Rega. Under “Nearby” you find defibrillators, drinking water and public toilets, sorted by your location or from the Zytglogge. This data comes from OpenStreetMap.
Where the content comes from
It follows the 2025 resuscitation guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the 2025 course guidelines of the Swiss Resuscitation Council (SRC). Your information is neither sent nor saved. The page does not replace a course or an emergency call.
