Background
The bronze figure "Sitzender Mann / Athlet?" by Marcel Perincioli was made in 1952 and stands on a stone plinth in the Schosshalden cemetery in Bern. Perincioli was a Swiss sculptor whose work dealt with movement and athletes. A city walking guide to the cemetery shows a seated athlete by him on its cover. The cemetery opened in 1877 to replace an earlier rose garden.
