Background
"Raumwinkel horizontal" is a galvanized steel work by Werner Witschi from 1962. It stands in front of an apartment building on the grounds of the former Tiefenau Hospital in Bern. Born in Urtenen in 1906, Witschi painted and made sculptures in iron; he died in Bolligen in 1999. The Tiefenau Hospital was founded in 1913 as the city's second hospital, next to the Zieglerspital. Operations there were halted in mid-December 2023.
