Bärn Kit on your home screen: how to do it on iPhone and Android

Bärn Kit runs in your browser, so you don't need to download anything from an app store. You can still put it on your home screen like an app and open it with one tap.

How it works

  1. Open www.uebrig.ch/barnkit/ or a single app, on iPhone in Safari.
  2. iPhone: tap “Share” at the bottom (the square with an arrow pointing up), then choose “Add to Home Screen”. Android: in the browser menu, choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
  3. Confirm, on iPhone with “Add” at the top right. After that you'll find Bärn Kit among your apps.

The button on the home page

On the Bärn Kit home page there is an “Add to home screen” button, if your browser supports it. On Android and on a computer, it opens the browser's install window. The iPhone has no such window. There, the button shows a short guide with the steps above.

Single apps too

Each app has its own name and its own icon. So you can put just the app you use often on your home screen, for example Bern Trinkwasser or the Notfallblatt.

What works offline

Your browser saves copies of the pages, their data and the map areas you have looked at. The home page and the Notfallblatt are saved from your first visit. Without signal, you see the saved version and a short notice. Live values, walking routes and reports need a signal. The copies stay on your device, and each new version replaces them.
