It's hot and the day is free. With five small Bärn Kit apps, you can plan it from the Aare to the barbecue spot.

Morning: how is the Aare?

Aare Bern jetzt shows the water temperature and how much water the Aare is carrying. Below 16 °C it says “Cold, keep it short”. The flow shows whether it is below the guide value. That is not a go-ahead: the Aare is only for strong, experienced swimmers. Also read “Before you go in”: never swim alone and know where to get out before you start. There are steps at Marzili, Lorraine and Eichholz.

Midday: water and shade

Bern Trinkwasser finds the nearest fountain with drinking water and shows the walking route there. Some fountains say “Bottle can be filled”. In Kühl & warm, pick “Summer” to see shady parks, water play areas, fountains and swimming pools. In the heat: drink plenty and stay in the shade at midday.

Afternoon: something fresh

GoodPlaceToGo shows farm shops, farm vending machines, cafés and restaurants nearby. With “Nearest place” you see the walking route and walking time.

Evening: barbecue

Grillstelle Bern shows public barbecue and fire pits. Above the map is the current forest fire danger for the Bern region. Check it before you light a fire, and check naturgefahren.be.ch for a fire ban. A ban applies even where there is no sign. Also follow the signs on site. Some spots say “Wood on site”.
