BBQ spots and fire pits in Bern: map

Public barbecue spots and fire pits in and around Bern on one map, with the current forest fire danger. Free, no tracking.

Bern BBQ spots shows public barbecue spots and fire pits in and around Bern on one map. The two types have their own colours and can be switched on and off one by one at the top; the number next to each shows how many there are. Tap a dot to see what is recorded: for some spots the note “Firewood on site”, for others a name such as Grillplatz Düfti or Grillplatz Muri. In Switzerland a fire pit is often called a Brätlistelle: a place where you roast sausages over the fire.

Above the map you see the current forest fire danger for the Bern region, with the level from 1 to 5 and its name from “low” to “very high”, plus a link to map.geo.admin.ch. If the current level cannot be loaded, the page shows the Canton of Bern bulletin with its date and a link to naturgefahren.be.ch. So always check the forest fire danger before lighting a fire. Bans and signs on site apply.

Tap “Nearest BBQ spot”: the app uses your location to find the nearest point among the types switched on, shows the distance and calculates the walking route with the walking time. “Route” opens directions, “Route in OSM” shows the way in OpenStreetMap. The barbecue spots and fire pits come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL). There is no tracking; only the routing service gets your location, and only the start and destination for the walking route. If a spot is missing, you can add it directly in OpenStreetMap.
