How übrig works safely: hygiene check, label, log

If you pass on food, you are responsible for it. übrig guides a kitchen through four steps covering everything that has to be right before the handover.

How it works

  1. Check: answer the seven hygiene questions. You can only continue with seven yeses.
  2. Report: enter the dish, portions, place, business and phone, then confirm allergens and the use-by time.
  3. Label: print it or send it to the group.
  4. Log: add the handover to the log.

Seven questions

The food was never in the guest area. It is hotter than 65 °C or was cooled to 5 °C or colder within two hours. The preparation time and use-by time go on the label. You know which of the 14 allergens that must be declared are in it. The container is clean and closed. On the way, the food stays in a cool box or a warming box. The organisation knows by when it has to serve it. Next to each question, an i explains why it matters.

Report and label

Without confirming the allergens and “Use by”, there is no label. The label fits on one printed page and carries the note “Heat through before serving”. For WhatsApp there is the same text in the same order.

Log

The log on the home page stays only in your browser. You can open entries, edit them, show the label again or delete them. That way there is a record of what was handed over and when.

Good to know

The business is liable until the handover. übrig is not legal advice. The cantonal food inspection (Lebensmittelkontrolle) is what counts.

The tool on the home page needs no account. The übrig app at /app/ is still being tested. There you sign in with a link sent by email, and offers and reservations are stored in a database in the EU.
