Free things to do in Bern: museums, Aare, bears
What is free in Bern: the Aare pools, the BärenPark, museums on free Saturdays, children’s Sundays, KulturLegi. Every line with a source and the date it was checked.
Free Bern gathers on one page what costs nothing in Bern. The offers are sorted into three groups: “Always free”, “Free on certain days” and “Heavily discounted”. The page is meant for families on a small budget, for newcomers and for everyone who did not know yet.
The entries include the Marzili and Lorraine river baths on the Aare, the BärenPark on the Aare next to the Nydegg bridge, public parks such as the Rosengarten and the Elfenau, and fountains, barbecue spots and bookcases. Free on certain days are the museums of “Gratis ins Museum” on the August Saturdays and the Zentrum Paul Klee, which lets children and young people up to 16 into its exhibitions free every Sunday. Heavily discounted are offers with the KulturLegi Canton of Bern and the five-franc workshop at the Creaviva children’s museum.
Every line names its source with a link and the date it was checked, for example Sportamt Bern, Tierpark Bern, the City of Bern, gratisinsmuseum.ch, zpk.org, kulturlegi.ch and OpenStreetMap. The source always prevails, not this page. Dated offers are hidden after their last day and listed as over.
With “Subscribe to calendar”, the days with free entry appear in your calendar app, and new dates are added by themselves. For Android and Google there is also a calendar file. The page is available in German, French and English and works without tracking.
